Jane Thomas has learned quite a bit about overcoming health issues.
Just months after finishing a year of treatment for breast cancer, Thomas allowed a friend to convince her to join the City South Leadership Academy, a nine-month civic leadership program sponsored by the South San Antonio Chamber of Commerce.
Thomas found it to be some of the best medicine in recovering from surgery, radiation and chemotherapy.
“It was really a great distraction for me,” she says. When the class finished, she adds, “I wasn’t ready for it to end.”
